Walton to export ‘Made found in Bangladesh’ tagged smartphones to US

The Bangladeshi electronics and ICT product producer giant Walton looks going to create another milestone in the country’s export sector through introducing the first-ever export of “Manufactured in Bangladesh” tagged smartphones in the global market. 

Walton will give the smartphones to a good renowned American brand while the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)

The country’s first-ever smartphone export to america may very well be inaugurated by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited (WDIL) in Chandra, Gazipur, on March 1.

Articles, Telecommunications and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar and Talk about Minister for Info and Interaction Technology Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak may also be present in the inauguration.

This past year, Walton inked an agreement with the united states based E-commerce huge Amazon to advertise “Manufactured in Bangladesh” labelled electronic devices and ICT devices in america market. 

Soon, Walton-branded laptops, computers, cell phones, small mini refrigerators, real estate and electrical appliances will be accessible for sale in the Amazon website. 

After meeting the lion’s share of domestic demands, Walton has been exporting an array of electronics and electrical appliances to around 35 countries of Asia, Europe, Africa and the center East. 

The “Manufactured in Bangladesh” tagged Walton products will further brighten Bangladesh’s image in the global industry through earning goodwill for the country. 

Now, Walton is continue with the target of turning the Bangladesh manufacturer in to the best global brand simply by 2030.

How Walton’s smartphone voyage began

Walton inaugurated the country's first ever mobile phone production plant found in October 2017. 

Since that time, it has created 6 million handsets (1.7m smartphones and 4.3m feature phones). 

Walton meets its full demand from local creation and since 2018, it has stopped importing any handset.

At present Walton's production capacity is 800,000 smartphones and 2m feature phones monthly. 

Besides, handsets, Walton also manufactures cellular phone extras and meets its full demand of gadgets from local development. The locally made accessories and mobile parts involve chargers, batteries, earphones, casing, PCB (printed circuit plank), USB cables, etc. 

Currently, Walton produces 1,000,000 chargers, 500,000 to 600,000 batteries and earphones. 

Meanwhile, it has doubled development capacity.  

This past year, Walton sold 1,201,620 bits of smartphones and another 4,176,407 feature phones in the neighborhood market. 

Just lately, Walton received International Corporation for Standardization (ISO) certificates as a cellphone maker. The ISO certificates in three types include: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Program) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
